I am left handed and I am in good company. company of very accomplished people. Oprah, Bill Clinton, and Jerry Seinfeld to name a few.

  2. Monica S says:

Well, what I have heard is that left handed people can’t do things as well as right handed people

Well, I’m not sure, but I think that if you’re left-handed you’re smarter than a right-handed person, and vice versa. I don’t think that’s the way it goes. Also, I don’t thing being left-handed or right-handed is hereditary (Is that what you mean by genetics?) because one of my friends is right-handed, but she trained herself to be left-handed. So well, that’s what I think. :]

Left-Handedness is genetic. The opposite sides of the brain control the different sides of your body. The theory is that since your right brain is the creative side, those who are left-handed are more creative. It doesn’t quite work out that way. Statistics aren’t definitive one way or the other.

  5. Engaro says:

Good for you for challenging your brain and hand-eye co ordination by practicing with your left hand.

Left-handed people are not statistically smarter than righties, but they do have to practice using their right hands more often than righties practice using their lefts. So perhaps they get a little more mental excercise in that department.

As for the heiritable aspect, honestly I cannot remember if it is or not, but you’ll often find multiple southpaws in the same family so it probably is.

    no, yes

It seems to be genetic, inherited as a recessive. And, certainly, we are smarter. The world is just set up for right-handed people, so we have to adjust to the majority. Because we have to adjust to their world, they call themselves “dextrous” and call us “gauche” or “sinister”. But remember, the left side of the brain controlls the right side of the body and the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body. Therefore, only left-handed people are in their right minds.
